September 2018: The Baharampore Farakka Highways Ltd (BFHL) team under the aegis of ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa’ undertook several cleanup drives in the month of September 2018. Cleanup programs were organised at numerous Schools, Hospitals, Bus Stands, Toll Plazas and Villages in the vicinity of the project. Awareness camps were organised wherein the BFHL team distributed pamphlets and explained the importance of a clean environment to people gathered there. As part of this campaign, dustbins and garbage bags were also donated to Schools and Hospitals.
“A clean India would be the best tribute India could pay to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary in 2019” said Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi as he launched the Swachh Bharat Mission at Rajpath in New Delhi. BFHL lent a helping hand by conducting an interactive session for the students of O2 Public School in Umarpur Village on October 2, 2018. Around 200 students and staff members of the school attended the session. The program urged the youth to inculcate a sense of cleanliness in the community and educate them about its benefits. The team explained to the students at length about the diseases spread by unhygienic conditions and the benefits of a clean environment. The session ended with all the students and staff members taking an oath to ensure high standard of cleanliness and maintain proper hygiene in their daily lives.
