February 16, 2019: The Sone bridge project was inaugurated on February 16, 2019 by Mr. Rahul Ranjan Mahiwal, District Magistrate cum Collector of Aurangabad district in Bihar. This 2.9 km 4 lane bridge will connect Daudnagar on the southern bank with Nasriganj on the northern bank of the Sone River and is located around 105 km southwest of Patna.
The Sone Bridge will ease traffic and reduce the distance between Rohtas and Gaya by 60 km and between Patna and Rohtas by 70 km. Traffic coming from the western part of the country and entering Bihar for onward journey to Jharkhand and other eastern states will bypass the busy traffic of Patna, saving precious time and fuel. The completion of this project will benefit the entire Buddhist circuit as the distances between Kushinagar and Bodhgaya will be reduced by 65 km providing an alternate route that currently passes through the congested roads of Patna and Gaya.
